Chairman Smith has been a fervent and committed supporter of Israel throughout his career in Congress. He has introduced several pieces of legislation involving assistance to Israel, including the 2010 Israel Foreign Assistance Appropriations Act. He has also taken to the House floor to advocate on behalf of Israel several times. More recently, he has specifically spoken out many times on the House floor against the Iran Nuclear Deal, which he has argued presents a direct security threat to Israel.
