Luxembourg has been an OSCE participating State since June 25, 1973 and has had its elections observed by the OSCE/ODIHR.
Luxembourg is a constitutional monarchy of just over half-million people, situated between France and Germany. Finance and insurance services make up a large part of its economy, but it also has a diversifying manufacturing sector.
Luxembourg is a member of NATO, the E.U., and the Council of Europe. Fifty-seven percent of its population is Luxembourger, 16.1 percent is Portuguese, 6.1 percent is French, 3.5 percent is Italian, 3.3 percent is Belgian, 2.4 percent is German and 1.1 percent is British, with many other nationalities making up the remaining 10.5 percent. A predominantly Christian country, Muslims make up 2.3 percent of the population, and Jews account for 0.1 percent of the population.
