Cardin, Hastings Statement on Train Bombing in Russia

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin (D-MD), Chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (U.S. Helsinki Commission) and Co-Chairman Congressman Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL) issued the following joint statement regarding the bombing of the Russian train, the Nevsky Express, Nov. 27:

“We stand with the Russian people and government with sympathy and solidarity in the wake of this tragic loss of lives. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and those recovering from injuries suffered in the blast and ensuing derailment.

“As the investigation moves forward, we offer the strongest support to our Russian counterparts as they and the rest of the world continue to grapple with those who will kill innocents to advance their ideology.”
