Minorities and members of immigrant communities routinely report instances of racial and ethnic profiling by the police throughout the OSCE region, despite findings that it does not prevent terrorism or lower crime rates. Join us for a discussion on an international response to the pervasive, yet ineffective practice of ethnic and racial profiling with:
Rosalind Williams, an African American artist and curator who became a naturalized citizen of Spain in 1968. After experiencing racial profiling by Spanish police in 1992, Williams took her case to court, culminating in a landmark decision by the UN Human Rights Committee in 2009.
