Over the past several months, Russia has scaled up its production of drones and missiles, using its growing arsenal to launch nightly barrages on Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure. In June, Russia killed more civilians than it has in any month over the past three years. Lacking adequate interceptors and deep strike capabilities, Ukraine has struggled to repel these attacks and defend its population centers.
This briefing will lay out the challenges Ukraine faces and discuss how the United States and allies can continue to support Ukraine in halting these deadly assaults. Panelists will analyze how Russian and Ukrainian capabilities have evolved over the past three years and the decisive role certain U.S. systems have played in Ukraine’s defense.
Panelists:
- Major General Borys Krementskyi, Defense Attaché, Embassy of Ukraine
- John Hardie, Deputy Director, Russia Program; Expert, Air and Missile Defense Program at the Foundation in Defense of Democracies
- Dara Massicot, Senior Fellow, Russia and Eurasia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace
