Helsinki Commission to Hold Hearing to Review Efforts on Combating Anti-Semitism and Related Violence in Europe

WASHINGTON - Congressman Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL), Chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (the Helsinki Commission) and Co-Chairman Senator Benjamin L. Cardin (D-MD), will hold a hearing on Tuesday, January 29 at 10:00 a.m. in room 419 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building. The hearing entitled, "Taking Stock: Combating Anti-Semitism in the OSCE Region," will focus on efforts to combat anti-Semitism and related violence in Europe. The hearing will be webcast from the Helsinki Commission website at www.csce.gov.

Testifying before the Commission will be:

Professor Gert Weisskirchen, member of the German Parliament, OSCE Chairman-in Office's Personal Representative on Combating Anti-Semitism

Dr. Kathrin Meyer, Advisor on Anti-Semitism Issues, OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights
