The hearing will examine Belarus' track record with respect to human rights and democracy. Recent elections have severely damaged the democratic development of Belarus as Alyaksandr Lukashenka remains in power, well beyond the legal term limit.

The hearing will look at the processes the United States and the OSCE set in place to enable Belarus towards a more democratic regime.
