Republic of Korea

South Korea has a long history of cooperation with the OSCE, joining as an Asian Partner in 1994. Most recently, South Korea has sought to use the experience of the OSCE as a means to build peace and security in North East Asia. At the 2015 Asian Partners for Cooperation conference in Seoul, the Government of South Korea hosted a side event to discuss the Northeast Asia Peace and Cooperation Initiative (NAPCI), which aims to expand ties in the region by first building trust through cooperation on soft issues, such as the environment and nuclear safety.
