Angel W. Colón Rivera, Ph.D - Dr. Colón-Rivera joined the Commission in September 2010 as a joint Post-Doctoral Public Policy Fellow with the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI). Throughout his career he has conducted research on a variety of human rights issues, including freedom of movement, minority issues, racism and freedom of association. His specific interests are labor rights, immigration and the psychological costs of home displacement.
Dr. Colón-Rivera has been awarded several policy fellowships. These include a joint policy fellowship with the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center and Nebraska Appleseed, as well as the SPSSI Dalmas A. Taylor Summer Minority Public Policy Fellowship. He obtained his doctorate in Social Community Psychology and joint bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan. He is a natural Spanish speaker.
